Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump told a rally today that he didn’t mind at all that there was a baby crying while he gave his speech.
‘Don’t worry about that baby. I love babies,’ he said. ‘I hear that baby crying, I like it. What a baby, what a beautiful baby. Don’t worry, don’t worry. It’s young and beautiful and healthy and that’s what we want.’
Understanding and generous, you might think, taking into account that parenting is a tough job.

MOMENTS LATER
Trump: "you can get the baby outta here"

After a few paragraphs discussing China devaluing their currency, he returns to the baby, who has carried on crying throughout.
‘Actually, I was only kidding. You can get the baby out of here. That’s alright.
‘Don’t worry. I think she really believed me that I love having a baby crying while I’m speaking!
‘That’s okay. People don’t understand. That’s okay.’
Naturally, the internet has already given this the meme treatment.

Trump just kicked a mother and her baby out of his rally. He's so competitive. How dare someone there have tinier hands than him.— Emily Volman (@emilyvolman) August 2, 2016
